About Sal Capaccio
As I always love to tell people, “I’m just a kid from Cheektowaga living a dream.”
I’m doing now what I’ve wanted to do since I was a little kid - talking about Buffalo sports for a living.
I graduated from Cleveland Hill High School in Cheektowaga in 1991, and I’m now a proud member of their Hall of Fame. I attended Syracuse University and worked in both sports and music at “The Greatest Media Classroom” in the country, WJPZ (Z89).
My first real job came at a small radio station in Englewood, Florida - WENG, where I hosted a sports talk show and covered high school football. Eventually, I left radio to work for that very same school, Lemon Bay High School, as a football and track & field coach while teaching social studies to various grade levels.
But my passion and dream was always to work in Buffalo radio, so I made the move back to Western New York in 2011 to begin my journey at WGR, where I’ve been the sideline reporter on the Buffalo Bills Radio Network since 2014, as well as main beat reporter and a talk show host. I also contribute as a Buffalo Bills analyst on WIVB-TV, channel 4, the CBS affiliate in Buffalo. Additionally, I’ve worked as a play-by-play announcer for high school and college sports in Western New York area for ESPN+ and Spectrum News.
None of this would be possible without the support of my amazing wife, Jana. We have an awesome son, Max, who loves playing sports and is a huge fan of all of the Buffalo sports teams.
Jana, Max, and I love to travel together and see the world!
